This is the Omega Speedmaster worn by Ed White, the American Astronaut who was the first man ever to walk in Space during his EVA (Extra Vehicular Activity) space walk on the NASA Gemini IV mission in June 1965. It is therefore, the first watch worn in Space and is also the Speedmaster model tested and chosen by NASA in preparation for all the Apollo missions and as such, some time later in 1965, the Speedmasters acquired the "Professional" name on the dial but this model pre-dates that as it was the exact model chosen for the tests. It is a highly desirable and highly collectible wristwatch which is still a classic today. Very nice size, slightly smaller than the later Speedmasters because of its straight lug (not the later twisted lug) case. Original dial (with applied metal Omega symbol/logo); bezel (with dot over 90); crown (with flat feet); case-back; and inner dust cover. Highly collectible. High resolution photos available upon request.
