Rare and collectible WW2 period Rolex Oyster Perpetual Chronometer in “Viceroy” tonneau-shaped case, model reference 3116. Case has serial number 283371 on the back dating the watch to 1944. 100% original Rolex in all original condition, including the original refurbished Rolex. Original Rolex hands. The dial has “Oyster Perpetual Chronometer Observatory Swiss Made” on it. What makes this Rolex special is it’s super quality movement as featured on page 66 of James Dowling’s book “Rolex: The Best of Time” where he states that “This movement is extremely unusual in that it has both a micrometer regulator and capped sapphire endstones rather than the usual rubies. This grade of movement is the highest Rolex production quality movement prior to the Kew A Certificates in the late 1940s.”
