1967 Pre-Moon 321 Omega Speedmaster Professional Ref. 145.012-67 SP. All Original 1967 Moonwatch. Jet Black Stepped Dial with Applied Metal Omega Logo 1967 Omega Bezel Original Speedmaster Box
Chosen by NASA for their astronauts to wear on the first moon landings, this 1967 original Omega Speedmaster caliber 321 is highly sought after and hard to find in this all original condition as many have had the hands, bezels and/or movements changed. This one is in very good condition for its age and looks even better on the wrist than in our photos. The crystal is completely clear and the dial is jet black. It comes on a new black leather strap. This vintage Speedmaster Moonwatch is the model reference 145.012-67 SP and is one of the true classics. It is all original 1967 Omega. The jet-black stepped dial with large applied metal Omega logo is original and in mint condition with the original aged luminous paint at 6 o’clock stretching all the way down to the outer dial to indicate a correct period dial. The hands are all original to this watch (which is relatively rare as most have been changed over the years) with original lume matching perfectly with the dial. The bezel is original 1967 as indicated by the dot above, not next to, the 90 and in excellent condition for this age. The case-back has the Omega “Sea-monster” logo in exceptionally sharp condition with no rubbing down, as so many have. The beautiful Omega caliber 321 movement is in sparkling condition and both the pushers and signed Omega winding crown are original. This watch is original and these 321 “Speedies” have risen dramatically in price over the last years. One reason may be that on 21st July, 1969 Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin were the first men to walk on the moon and the watch they took with them on that Apollo XI mission was this exact model Speedmaster. Omega in Switzerland have confirmed in writing that they supplied NASA with this model reference 145.012-67 for the Apollo XI mission. This model was only made by Omega for the two years between 1966 and 1968 and is very hard to find now in this condition. The Omega movement serial number on this watch is 25,004,359 and the Omega case reference number in the back is 145.012-67 SP both correctly dating the watch to 1967. It is thought that Neil Armstrong left his watch in the Space Module but that Buzz Aldrin walked onto the moon with his and therefore the watch for sale here is the first watch ever worn on the moon and the original “Moonwatch”. This watch has recently been fully serviced this year and is keeping perfect time and all chronograph functions run, record and zero perfectly and sharply, as they should. Comes in original Omega 321 box in perfect condition.
