1968 Smiths W10 British Army Issued Military Wristwatch with Rare U.K. Special Forces S.A.S. Tag

SOLD

We bought this watch many years ago from a source on the Welsh Boarder near Hereford. Hereford is the home vase of 22 Regiment S.A.S.  It came with the accompanying aged tag attached recording the watch’s unique issue number 4002/68 from the back of the watch. In addition, the words “22 S.A.S. Hereford”. The watch itself is in beautiful original condition. The dial is jet black, one of the nicest. The lume in the hands has fired and gone but the hands are in superb condition otherwise.

The Special Air Service (“S.A.S.”) is a U.K.  Special Forces unit of the British Army divides in Squadrons and based at Hereford in England close to the welsh boarder. The SAS was founded in 1941 as a Regiment and later reconstituted as a Corps in 1950. It still exists and is operational today but little is known or verifiable about its activities apart from a few very famous missions.
