In amazing condition for its age, this original solid gold Rolex automatic chronometer was made for the British market between 1956 and 1959. The beautiful Rolex oyster case is in perfect condition and is fully hallmarked for 9ct gold on case and lugs. What makes this most appealling is the Engine -Turned/Thunderbird solid gold bezel with its squares at the hour markers. The Rolex case serial number, 575868, is stamped between the lugs at 6 O’clock and again on the inside of the case back and the model reference number, 1003 and “Registered Design” is stamped between the lugs at 12 O’clock. The movement is signed “Rolex Montres Swiss Geneva Twenty Five 25 Jewels Adjusted Five Positions and Temperature” and with 1560. These early butterfly movement chronometers are very sought after and this one is a gem. It also comes on a genuine unused Norwegian calf-skin strap (expensive and sought after in its own right). Original Rolex signed dial with solid gold folded hour markers and blued-steel centre sweep seconds hand make this a beauty. Genuine Rolex screw down crown signed with the Rolex crown. The watch has been fully serviced and is ready to wear. Why not own a spectacular solid gold vintage Rolex for life for less than the price of an ordinary new steel one?
