Early rare 1958 Omega Seamaster 309 Reference CK2913 Diver’s watch for professionals and sports divers. Originally water resistant tested tested up to 300m guaranteed up to 200m.
This is indeed a classic watch. This watch spawned a series that is still going strong today.
Correct forward/counting bezel (from 2913-3 onwards) and original Broadarrow hands and patented Naiad Crown and domed Omega Crystal make this a colllectors’ piece.
Comes on a new old stock early 1960’s rubber Tropic Sport diver’s strap.
The Cal. 501 automatic movement is serviced and running perfectly.
The original Matt black dial with minute indexes and quarters, hours with triangular luminous markers and quarters with Arabic Numbers, broadarrow hands central seconds hand with counter-weight are all original and in good to excellent condition.
The all steel case is unpolished. The turning bezel with pip and clockwise indices moves freely.
The original domed crystal with original triple thickness is polished and clear.
The washer screwed caseback with o-ring is engraved with “Certified High Pressure Waterproof Seamaster” and Hippocampus and in superb condition.
In late 1958/early 1959 the bezel was changed to a Clockwise version as on this watch.
The first ever model in the famous Omega Seamaster 300 line, still going strong today in the James Bond model.
Launched in 1957 with the reference CK 2913, which this watch shares, this was Omega’s first true professional diver’s wristwatch, thanks to its robust case with screw-on back and integrated O-ring gasket as well as its very thick and pliable glass, still original on this watch!
This was the first Omega capable of withstanding depths up to 660 feet.
This First Generation Seamaster 300 is fitted with a Countdown rotating bezel divided in 10-minute intervals to show elapsed time, or calculate decompression stages.
Powered by Omega’s superb Cal. 501 automatic movement, this diver’s watch with its super-desirable large luminescent Broadarrow hands was extremely well received by professionals, and would later be selected by Britain’s Royal Navy for issue to its divers.
This Seamaster 300 is extremely collectible today for Omega collectors especially with these original “Broad Arrow” Hands. This is still the one to have for Omega Collectors along with its cousins, the 2914 Railmaster and 2915 Speedmaster.
The perfectly patinated original dial, Broadarrow hands, domed plex-glass crystal and Naiad Crown of the present Seamaster make this a superb example. Made in 1958 the case is still in superb original unpolished condition today.
