1943 Rare WW2 British Military Issued RAF Pilot’s Wristwatch with Military Markings and Original Dial. 30T2 Calibre Movement
Very rare and getting harder and harder to find in this original condition, for sale here is a super example of a genuine WWII Omega Pilot’s watch. This is a rare, very collectible and very hard to find watch in this 100% original condition including the fixed lugs. Most of these military watches have been re-dialled or messed around with in some way but this one is 100% original. The watch has its original Aluminium alloy body (for lightness) with a stainless steel back with all the correct British Air Ministry issue markings on it HS8 which stands for the Hydrographic Service Department 8 of the Fleet Air Arm (probably spotter planes) and the individual issue number. The movement is the legendary Omega 30T2 with centre seconds – one of the most reliable workhorses Omega ever made and was capable of chronometer rated time keeping. The serial number on the movement, 9816793, dates the watch to exactly 1943. The movement has just been serviced and a new balance staff fitted and so is keeping time to within 5 seconds a day! Remarkable for a 66 year old watch. The case was cleaned, the movement cleaned and rust removed from the train wheels and broken screws removed and two new case screws fitted. All work was carried out professionally and at some considerable cost. The dial is original Omega as are the blued steel hands. This is a must buy for Military watch collectors and is featured in many Military watch reference books. Comes on a new NATO black military strap.
