1956 Very Rare Early All Black and Gilt Dial Navitimer Chronograph with All Steel Early Beaded Bezel Case One of the First Made with Box and Original Breitling Sale Papers Dated

Made in mid-1956 but not sold in France until April 1958, this is a very rare early Navitimer watch and a rare find with its original Breitling sale papers. This is one of the very first Breitling Navitimers ever made. In 1954, Breitling introduced the Navitimer with no reference on the dial the AOPA (Airline and Pilot’s Association of America”) insignia. Beaucse of the sucess of the watch, Breitilng added their name and its “B” isgnia in the the first years of production, and this example was made in 1956 (according to the Breitling Serial Number 871410 stamped inside the case-back dating the watch to 1956). In 1957, Breitling removed the “B” insgnia, so this is a rare early transitional dialed version. The watch was bought from the son of the deceased owner, who swapped it with a French colleague whilst based with the RAF in France in the 1950’s. The watch comes with its original 1950’s Breitling Certificate of Guarantee papers dated 11.4.58 (date of original sale) with Model Number and name of original owner (French) and sales person written on it (also French) and Breitling box and we have added an exact replica of its original 1950’s lizard strap that would have come with the watch when new. Beautiful rare dial and case. Superb watch and very rare with original papers. more information and high resolution photographs available upon request
