This 1979 CWC 6BB is a rare, British Royal Air Force (RAF) general service watch, produced by the Cabot Watch Company (CWC) in 1979, a year CWC was the sole supplier for RAF general service watches. These military-issued timepieces are highly collectible due to their limited production, featuring a tonneau-shaped case, a manual-wind mechanical movement with hacking seconds, a matte black dial, and a unique “6BB” designation on the case back for RAF issue.

Description

For sale here is a rare and very collectible CWC 6BB from 1979.  It is estimated that only 2,400 of these CWC 6BBs were issued to the RAF, and only in 1979 making good examples like this one incredibly rare

The front-loading/monocoque, 35mm, brushed stainless steel, tonneau-shaped case is a comfortable wear on the wrist. The case back is correctly stamped 6BB-6645-99 / 523-8290 / 2133/79 with the Military BroadArrow one of the last ever to be issued.

It has correct fixed bar military lugs.

Inside is the mechanical manual wind CWC caliber movement with hacking function for accurate military time synchronisation.

The watch is fully serviced by us,  running strongly and under free warranty for a year.

A domed crystal sits above a matte black dial. The wide minute track has pips that are coated in Tritium and large, Arabic numerals mark the hours. The hour and minute, sword-shaped hands are also coated in Tritium. The text is printed precisely with the T in a circle signifying Tritium. At 6 o’clock the Broad Arrow indicated British Government property. We’ve paired the watch on a NATO strap in keep with how it was worn during action.

This is without doubt the nicest examples of one of these rare watches that we have ever seen and a great birth year watch!
