An early steel vintage Doxa Dato Triple Date Chronograph with red calendar pointer.
The razor sharp unpolished all stainless steel case measures 35 mm in diameter and is a joy to behold.Exactly as it left the Doxa factory in Switzerland in 1948!
The Swiss Made case is signed Doxa S.A., Acier Inoxydable and numbered to the back. The Valjoux 72c manual wind movement is signed Doxa with 17 jewels. The silvered dial has raised gold Arabic number 12, raised gilt dot hour markers, with three subsidiary dials recording hours, minutes and continuous seconds, outer blue date ring, month and day apertures and fine gilt hands with red date indicator. The dial is signed Doxa above the centre.
A really fabulous example of the Doxa Triple Date Chronograph, in original ‘unworn’ condition from 1948.
This popular movement, Valjoux 72c, was also used in full calendar watches known as Datora, Cato, Compax, Triple Date. The celebrated calibre Valjoux 72 movement was also used in the Heuer Autavia, Rolex Daytona, and many others.
